31 days of writing

"What if I fail? Oh, darling... but what if you fly...?"

Time after time I've set myself a goal and managed to fail. I mean in blogging, more than anything... sure, I've achieved and missed goals, that's called life, but on this page, I've tossed out there "I'm going to write this many words per day!" or "This many words from now until whenever!" or "I'm going to blog every day for this many days!" or "I'm going to do this, that or the other".

And seldom do I make it. I was presented with the chance to join a group of bloggers doing a "31 Day October Challenge". Everyone picks a theme, and will go all out every day from 10/1 to 10/31... my friend Kirsten is going to write about planning a Disney trip (lest you forget I am also a Disney planner...)... my friend Corie will discuss Simplicity, which goes along with her book (go buy it, it's worth it, and you need it)... have to mention my friend April Best, who helped me get this set up... and my buddy Rick Toooooolie will just write. Because he's a writer, and that be what he do.

So I have a choice... I can say "Bunk that. I ain't trying again" and then just write when I feel like it. Problem is, many times, I never feel like it... sometimes I feel like doing anything BUT write.

Or, I can say, "I'm doing this." and then do my best.

And if I fail, which I probably will, then do it again.

And if I fail that time, which I most definitely will, then do it again.

And if I fail again, then do it again.

Because maybe I'll fail 20 times. But what if I make it on that 21st try? What if I blow through it and succeed on that 73rd try?

What if... what if... what if I actually do it this time? What if this time, I manage to actually put down words for 31 days in a row? I mean... seriously.... some of it will be a heaping pile of clown boogers... but some of it... I daresay some it might just be some good writing.

So here we go. Let's try it again. Thanks for reading...
